Love is in the air.
Chances are you and your valentine will want to do something to celebrate your romance this month.
Often, the mere mention of a romantic getaway conjures up thoughts of exotic destinations. There are simply some places, some experiences that make us want to fall in love all over again. It’s not necessary to get out your passport or plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip. It’s not even necessary to leave the state of Alabama for a romantic adventure.
While it may seem cliche, almost everyone can agree that there’s a certain romance to being by the ocean, walking hand-in-hand watching a glorious sunset. No need to travel afar, the sugar-white sands of Gulf Shores await just to our south.
It’s not hard to feel starry-eyed while gazing upon crystal-clear water rushing and tumbling over rocks, before landing in a tranquil serenity pool.
Sparkling waterfalls are scattered throughout North Alabama, be sure and visit Noccalula Falls – home of an original star-crossed love story.
Maybe a cozy cabin and a crackling fire are more your speed?
Head to Mentone, on top of Lookout Mountain, where you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported back in time. Quaint shops line the main drag, surrounded by tall pines and marvelous views. Don’t miss the Wildflower Cafe.
Interested in something a bit posher?
Ross Bridge Resort just outside of Birmingham has world-class golf, a whopping 12,000 square foot full-service spa, and fine dining. Rooms and suites all have private balconies overlooking the gorgeous Alabama hills.
For a unique dining experience, visit the 360 Grille.
The state’s only revolving restaurant is located atop the Renaissance Tower at the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa. The restaurant offers breathtaking views of the city of Florence and the Tennessee River below.
Sip wine along the North Alabama Wine Trail.
Six wineries nestled in the mountains and valleys of the southern tier of the Appalachian Range offer everything from Cabernets to the mighty Muscadines.
So, take your pick. Romantic road trip? Sun and sand? Mountain air and waterfall walks? Romance awaits.
As always, thanks for reading! XOXO
