A Stay at Hotel Indigo, Orange Beach, Alabama – Review

Coastal cool meets city chic at the new Hotel Indigo in Orange Beach, Alabama, located adjacent to Gulf State Park and the Hugh S. Branyon Back Country Trail system.

Less than one year old, this property is a delight. Arriving in the hip, modern lobby, complete with swinging chairs, you’ll be greeted by a friendly staffer offering candy. There’s even a treat station for pets!

Rooms

Using the word room is an understatement; walking into the foyer of my suite, I was delighted by a spacious living area and entry area complete with Keurig and small refrigerator. The well-decorated living area had a small table, sofa, extra seating, credenza, and large flat screen tv.

Living Area

A large bedroom area with a king-size bed, additional seating, workspace, another flat-screen tv, and plenty of storage awaits. The bathroom is good-sized and well-appointed with fabulous amenities: walk-in showers, no tubs.

Views of the Gulf await across the street from rooms facing the front of the property. Spectacular views of the Gulf State Park await on the backside. Pro tip: Fourth-floor rooms offer high ceilings for a super spacious and airy feel.

Nicely appointed, you’ll love the look. Much of the art and many of the accent pieces can be purchased downstairs at The Southern Grind Coffee House.

Speaking of Southern Grind, let’s talk dining.

Dining

Of course, there are plenty of fabulous dining options in the area, but Hotel Indigo – Orange Beach has a lovely in-room dining menu; they also house the Southern Grind Coffee House adjacent to the lobby featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and coffee.

Things to do

The property offers both an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with a large hot tub and pool bar—another lovely space with plenty of seating and a fire table that’s lit each night. There is also a 24/7 fitness center on-site.

The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail is adjacent to the property. Run, walk, or bike on over 26 miles of paved trails and boardwalks. There’s a bike rental business conveniently located next door.

The Beach

Don’t let the fact that this property is located across the street from the beautiful white sand beaches deter you. A year-round shuttle will take you to any beach you like and pick you up when you’re ready to go. This means less schlepping of your stuff and, most importantly, no sand in your car. I recommend that you go to Gulf State Beach, which is less than a half a mile away, there are clean restrooms and showers, as well as concessions available. You also get a parking pass for this beach in case you opt to drive yourself.
