Greater Gadsden Area Labor Day Fun

Noccalula Falls, Greater Gadsden Area

Are you scrambling for ideas for Labor Day fun? Here are eight to get you started!

Noccalula Falls Park

This natural wonder features a 90-foot waterfall named for Noccalula, a young Cherokee maiden who plunged to her untimely death rather than forsake her true love according to legend.

Visit the pioneer village, a group of rustic, hand-hewn log buildings representing a display of pioneer living conditions. Included in the town are a country store, grist mill, covered bridge, pioneer home, smokehouse, blacksmith shop and more.

The whole family will love riding the train around the park. Don’t forget to visit the petting zoo!

Black Creek Trails

The Black Creek Trails consist of over 10 miles trails suitable for walking, running, hiking and bicycling. The Black Creek Trail (1.7miles) is a wide gravel path that runs parallel to the gorge along the Black Creek.

Be sure to check out the new suspension bridge by hiking into the gorge. You can make a loop and go behind the falls for an incredible perspective. The trail is short, but steep, and is rocky. Enter from inside Noccalula Falls Park or by small connector trail in the campground.
